CAM 501 camera is designed for indoor installation, on a ceiling or a wall. The camera has an aesthetic black housing with transparent, high-quality glass dome. The optical part of the camera can be rotated in horizontal and vertical plane, to reach any direction (latches allow easy access to that part during installation). A second, inner cover protects electronics from dust and improves the overall aesthetics of the product. To rotate the optical part of the camera, loosen four screws, get access to the inner cover, and set appropriate direction.

The camera uses 1/3" SONY Super HAD CCD II sensor providing video resolution of 550 TVL and having sensitivity of 0.01 lx. The employed lens with 3.6 mm focal length allows to monitor small and medium-size rooms, as well as not very long corridors.

The camera provides clear images both in strong- and low-light conditions.

CAM 501 camera comes with standard connectors: BNC (video) and power socket 2.1/5.5.

• AGC (Automatic Gain Control) - maintains a constant output level, increasing the signal to noise ratio. The picture is more clear but less natural. Without this function (AGC OFF) the image is generally more natural, but more grainy.
• BLC (Backlight Compensation) - automatically adjusts the level of bright light in order to provide more detail in dark areas. A good example is the image a human's face in the background of the sun shining from behind.
• Gamma correction - the camera feature which allows for nonlinear scaling of the brightness levels of the image to the characteristics of the display and human eye. The original signal level is linearly dependent on the intensity of the incident light, while the impression of brightness perceived by the eye is proportional to the logarithm of the light intensity of the display (luminance).
• Synchronization of the camera - internal (from its local generator) or external (usually from AC power line). External synchronization allows to synchronize multiple cameras without the use of an additional signal generator.
